There is the beautiful arts & crafts house Blackwell, over looking lake Windermere or Brantwood the home of John Ruskin, best visited via gondola from Coniston. Activities are available here by the bucket load. The walks range from picturesque strolls to mountain scaling, the cycling is in abundance and if you fancy taking to the water there is canoeing, sailing, cruises or even swimming if you are feeling brave.
